Let's Encrypt is set up to strongly encourage a completely automated set up, including renewal. From my experience "but every 90 days" is effectively for as long as desired.
Yeah maybe I'm just using it as an excuse for not learning to do Let's Encrypt. If it's the same as a standard $9.00 domain validation SSL then I could be saving that $9.00 by not being an idiot.
