With all due respect, I think the position OP's advocating is that people need to start defending the right to have what you're calling a "personal life". Our lives are no longer personal, at least in the sense of information ownership, which is what we're talking about. The term's continued usage is a polite lie involving curtains and a cheerful aversion of thought.

RTBF is reactive policy-making at it's worst. Resources are finite. Make those companies spend resources doing something useful for our rights.
