This static HTML editing ability is powered by <xstatic>|, a still-under-development but ready-for-stress-testing project aiming to turn any static HTML webpage into an editable one.
It works by adding a custom HTML tag(s) (<xstatic>) and a tiny 23k javascript library (xstatic.js) to the page and then configuring a controller to authenticate users.
The user facing apps, obviously, use several excellent open source components. Please see the credits page for more general info.
Basically - I'm trying to build something that turns ANY webpage (or section thereof) into an editable document.
I can't seem to get tire-kicking traction though.. :(

That'll be because you're trying to provide something useful. Decorate it with pictures of Kim Kardashian's fat arse, and you'll get thousands of users.
I'm starting "tire-kicking" on a new web app this week.
<xstatic>| Docs is a simple, fast and easy to use, web based document editor.
It generates static (but editable) HTML files that can than be easily shared and printed. Like Google Docs inside an AWS S3 bucket.

Comments, questions and kicks welcomed.
P.S - if you encounter DNS problems - the same app can be accessed via the underlying AWS URL: http://public.docs.xstatic.site.s3-website-us-west-1.amazona...
