Maybe, but considering the scrutiny on Tesla right now, I think they'd prefer to launch any new hardware ASAP, irrespective of the marketing benefits of launching it with the 3.
The speculation is that it is coming this fall, and it will not be able to be backported to already sold cars. One of the main reasons I am holding off a purchase.
