Maybe this is an argument for the inherent complexity of the solution being (at least) an order of magnitude more than the tools themselves?

Honestly, I'm very unimpressed with tools these days solving actually useful problems BECAUSE they're so dependent on their assumptions of the simplicity of the problem space.

I don't think we're disagreeing, necessarily. Just speculating on how to put a conclusion on the end of your thought.
