The secret to good UX design is to imagine yourself as the user and imagine yourself raging against the hassle of having to do this.



If a user is having to write code just to use your interface, there's very likely a serious issue with your UX that far outweighs whether the developer felt it was worthwhile to use laziness to increase performance or not.


Even better is to talk to users. They may get raged by different things to me to you.


I like to include a bit of "watch someone use your product".

And I mean doing so with their permission, and at your request, but without any prior instruction, and you're not allowed to intervene or supply hints.
