Nice meditation on one of the defining frameworks of the modern web. I don't see robust front-end frameworks like React as ever really making jQuery redundant – for the non-app, document-paradigm web, these solutions make for over-engineering, while pure JS still leaves (ever fewer, granted) gaps. For certain purposes, jQuery will remain the best fit for some time to come.
