In some societies, you are rewarded, or at least supported, in doing your civic duty. That's often not the case in other places. There can be a high cost.

I agree, and would add on that anytime data is centralized under control of any one actor – public or private – this is would be the case.

Correct. About a year and a half ago, Intel announced they were ditching tick-tock for a three step model of process-architecture-optimization.

After seeing those internal emails from Microsoft regarding the failures they had on the Surface products caused by problems in the then-recently launched Skylake chips, my guess is Apple is just fine on their delayed release schedule.

Er, if you read those closely you'll realize that it was microsoft's fault and they were trying to blame skylake. No other manufacturer had problems like microsoft with the same chips.

The Kim family has always placed a high priority on making movies. I believe it started out as a propaganda angle, as it has been in most communist countries (well...anywhere, really) and has sense moved onto full on fandom. The DPRK spends a good chunk of change on film production. Kim Jong-Il went so far as to kidnap a South Korean film director and actress.
