A similar tool, Vulture, exists for Python: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/vulture

I haven't used it yet myself, but discovered it during a search inspired by this post and thought it would be worth sharing. Definitely a trickier problem to solve for dynamic languages, but looks useful.

Came here to say the same thing. Awesome app. Great to be freed from the shackles of Audible and the likes :)

I think this is really nicely done. It's probably a little over-engineered for a project of this size, but it shows the power of using all of these libraries together, and I'm sure it was a great learning experience.

Does anyone know what tool was used to generate the system architecture diagram? It's really clean and clear - https://github.com/clintonwoo/hackernews-react-graphql#archi...

Sentence 2 on the front page:

"It is intended to be an example or boilerplate to help you structure your projects using production-ready technologies."

He could have used less tech, but then the project wouldn't have served it's purpose.

Assuming that boilerplate is indeed necessary. Many comments point out exactly that: this very page shows that the boilerplate for a really fast page is just the opened and closed html tag.

It's using the magic of Google Slides if you can believe it. They have a lot of nice information modeling shapes.

Hi Peter! A friend of mine has just started OPT and has founded a company. She plans on using the STEM extension too, which was a successful path for myself and some others, but the recent changes to the STEM extension seem to be considerably more limiting now. Do you have any guidance on options for founders considering the OPT and STEM extension route?

Many thanks in advance!

That's right, STEM OPT is much more restrictive than "regular" OPT for founders and owners. But the details of this are really up to the school so I would recommend that she speak openly with her school's international student office to find what's required to get STEM approved for a founder/owner.

What did they change about the STEM extension?

This blog post sums things up well - http://blog.cyrusmehta.com/2016/03/suffocating-the-foreign-e...

Whilst it's pretty great that the extension was increased from 17 months to 2 years, you now have to prove an employer-employee relationship, which is significantly more limiting than the previous iteration.

That's right.

Thanks you.

Yep, that would be incredibly ineffecient, so they use a smarter approach - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205919#existing

This is confusing in so many ways

1. They give no mention of how this handles existing installs of Google Drive or Google Photos Backup.

2. The application has the exact same name for Google Photos and Google Drive. Do I need to download and install both? I tried that, but couldn't move the second to my applications directory without overwriting the first. Looking at the downloads they're the same size, so I'm guessing they're the same, but that begs the question, why the two download links in the blog?

3. Where will photos be saved? I save mine in Google Drive, and choose the option to sync to Google Photos. Will they be stored directly on Google Photos? Because I'd rather keep them on Drive.

I'm still a huge fan of both products, and hope that this cleans up a number of integration issues between both services, but this announcement feels like it wasn't thought through at all.

1. If you have Google Drive for PC/Mac installed, it will update it to Backup and Sync.

2. The difference in the two endpoints are the defaults selected during the setup wizard (which you can change from either). The Photos versions is geared more towards Photos users and the Drive users more towards Drive.

3. They are saved in Drive, and are synced to Photos. However if you delete in either Drive or Photos cloud, it will affect the other. Whether it is deleted from your hard drive depends on what you have selected in the deletion settings portion.

Very helpful reply, thank you. However, I still believe they should have outlined this in their Help Center rather than have users figure it out by trial and error.

How does that work given that a google Photos has different pricing for compressed photos?

It utilizes similar pricing for photos and videos.

You can elect to upload Photos/Videos in High Quality (which does not consume quota).

I was a longtime Delicious user, but it really fell apart after the Yahoo acquisition. I'm happy to hear that it won't disappear.

I've recently switched to raindrop.io, which is an excellent replacement. Bookmarking serves two purposes for me:

1) It provides a way to record sites I don't visit often, which I hope I'll be able to find easily in the future if needed.

2) It provides me with easy access to the sites I visit regularly on all devices, without restricting me to a specific browser, and with an aesthetically pleasing and intuitive UI like Speed Dial

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/speed-dial-2/jpfpe...

I want the record of these two kinds of pages to live in one place, and while Delicious and Pinboard were close, I felt that they never quite met that need.

This is 100% incorrect. In fact, there is a much higher risk of injury lowering a power clean under control, especially if you're going heavier.

That's not to say that you won't benefit from working with a weight where it is possible to control when lowering, but there's a lot to be said for power cleaning a higher amount and dropping upon completion of the rep.
