people have been using ad blockers for years, which probably prompted showing the more annoying ads. the option is use an adblocker or buy premium. if people are unwilling to do either, then just don't use the platform.

But that’s too much work. I’d rather do nothing, and just complain about it

Does it matter. 70% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

Because this isn't the only one way to donate, and if it were subject to the 30% cut, most people would want to know they could spend a couple extra hours steps for 30% additional impact on their donation.

Very few people are going "No apple pay? No donation."

> if it were subject to the 30% cut, most people would want to know they could spend a couple extra hours steps for 30% additional impact on their donation.

43% additional impact.

Of course it does, if there would be both 70% and 100% options to donate.

Yeah but if uhh if I could add it to a device that I already wear and it monitors passively that’s a game changer. I’d effectively be able to have it checked more often and while I’m asleep so as someone else said I can see what might be influencing any changes over time. It’s doesn’t have to replace what works if you don’t want to but adding it to tech we already use is a good thing in the long run.

It already is. And it’s actually pretty good. It’s not there for multiplayer (least to me) but single player games are absolutely fine now. Xcloud is pretty good and people say GeForce now is even better.

If you’re a fan of a popular artist you should probably expect to pay this. Not sure if that’s the case here but tickets are usually more affordable at first but then they get scalped instantly. It’s most of the reason I haven’t gone to a concert in recent years

TS recently caused Ticketmaster to crash because so many people were ordering and Ticketmaster couldn’t handle it. TS is huge

What kind of mental gymnastics? You think you’re entitled to use a service with an adblocker instead of the service they offer supported by ads/subscription? So you just want to use a service for free?

Up until they actually stop serving me that content, yeah. I've backed up more than 2tb of YouTube channels I like and I've got no intention of stopping until they cut me off.

Is google entitled to force me to view ads?

I’m entitled to view whatever data comes into my device in whatever order I desire.

Entitlements aren’t all bad. In the US, social security is an entitlement. Are you against that too?

Corporations don’t get to override human dignity because it makes them more money. When talking about humans vs corporations, I think I try to default the entitlements to the human.

You're entitled to do whatever you want with your client, but YouTube is equally entitled not to serve you content if they detect that you're using an ad blocker.

It was free before and can be free now. What kind of mental gymnastics do you have to do to justify the greed? Ads are dangerous. You’re entitled to protect yourself.

Idk what this has to do with the issue though. I mean sure wait on launch for bugs, but how often you upgrade a phone is irrelevant.

In the last 6 you get 5g, 120hz, usb c, more ram.

There’s also nextdns which I was planning on switching to anyways

I’ve been using NextDNS for a few years now. I don’t have time to mess with an ‘on prem’ solution.

It works really well and is simple to manage. It runs on my mobile devices easily.

I turn it off occasionally to shop, but immediately turn it back on as the internet is a whole different place without some sort of robust ad blocking.

It’s nice to see the logs fill up with blocked telemetry and other crap all day.

Waze is a decent alternative, if not mostly for the community driven aspect of it. Sometimes it’s too aggressive to save 1-2 minutes but it knows tolls , when they’re open, and just as accurate if not more than google maps at times

I don't understand this at all, how can Waze be a decent alternative when it doesn't show, well, anything? [At least where I live,] there's no photos, rating, comments, no info about opening times, no way to get there unless I'm driving (which in this European capital I am totally not), and even if I'm driving there's no info on parking zones (you can't just park anywhere on the street). Waze is literally 100 % useless for me in the city.
