...for the FIRST TIME in 5k...

Article title: "Spotted hyena found in Egypt for the FIRST TIME in 5,000 years"

This is a follow-up to a video entitled "What a Small Town in Japan is Like":

The tagline is too close to "Fastest Fourier Transform in the West" or FFTW [1].

The name "WebFFT" is fine, just do away with the "Fastest..." bit. It looks like the author is trying to piggy-back on the FFTW brand.

The title of the Scientific American article is "These Prime Numbers Are So Memorable That People Hunt for Them", which matches the content much better than the title above.

..." each year"

I.e. a better title would be "Prehistorically, as many as 19M acres burned in California EACH YEAR"

"In an accompanying small study performed on human test subjects, the researchers put 49 healthy adults on an eating plan that only allowed them to consume calories for eight hours a day. After shaving their heads, the team found that their hair regrew at a rate that was 18% slower than a control group. "
I'd be ok if my hair grew slower

Why did this catch on in Europe? It's got some humor and hint of sex, and easy-to-understand English, but is there something more?

There's some Anglophilia among certain parts of the population. They like to create a certain idea of Britishness, and like to associate themselves with that mental image, hoping it will make them appear sophisticated and slightly quirky in a way that makes them superior to the common rabble.

Feels hard to believe "Anglophilia" is the main reason people watch it, when it's all about making over-the-top fun -- way beyond Wodehouse, even -- of all the things those "Anglophiles" could be reasonably supposed to love.

Nice. FYI, I personally would listen more to these if they were also available in podcast form. Do you have a RSS feed?

Not yet but I will definitely add it now.

Looks like WSJ clickbait. Just because something occasionally happens does not mean it's a pattern.

Stay at my house for a day. Wife and both daughters all have multiple sets of headphones and I get to listen to Spotify playlists and Instagram/TikTok video chipmunk noises from tinny little phone speakers all day.

Maybe for the same reason I stopped using headphones with my phone: There's no headphone jack, and Bluetooth is too finicky.

Airlines have also been passing out cheap earbuds for a while. They can't do that for Bluetooth now.

I think this is click-bait from the WSJ
