I'm wondering why I appear to be in the minority questioning how this is news and why it was shared?

I've been noticing a general increase in low effort link shares of, what I consider to be, well known projects. These shared links contain no news or anything that appears to be related to updates or recent development, just links to home pages of relatively popular projects.


At this point, there are 138 comments, which, as is often the case on HN, are much more informative than the link itself and show that the topic is hardly worn out. If it was, it wouldn’t have made the front page.


I don't have one of these and and this irritates me as a Spotify subscriber.

The least they could do is credit accounts with Spotify Premium, for those that bought these devices.


If they had done this, like, giving 1 year of subscription for free, that would have been an ethical and environmental scandal but the fact they did nothing is just insulting their customers.

I'm nearly a day one subscriber but i'm currently exploring my options to leave.


Tidal is alright. They're mostly fine with doing their job instead of bombarding you with new pointless crap all the time. They haven't made a car thing. They aren't doing podcasts. They aren't reshuffling their UI every week. Basically they're (mostly, could be even better) just shutting the fuck up and it's definitely nicer than using Spotify was.


I subscribed to Tidal relatively early and could tell the difference in audio quality with some songs. I stuck with Spotify because I couldn't justify paying more for a smaller catalog.

I've been slowly frustrated with the changes Spotify keeps introducing... breaking my "Starred" songs by replacing it with "Liked" songs, tampering with song shuffle, and routinely switching me to "Autoplay". Some of the curated playlists have gone down in quality as well, they'll start off great and halfway through I'm wondering why the playlist changed so drastically.

I can't say for certain the discontinuation of Car Thing will have me end my subscription, but I will say this is the start of a wake up call for how Spotify treats their most loyal customers.


You should check back their pricing. What you said was true some years ago but now that Spotify increased their prices multiple times, the pricing is the same (in Europe, the family plan is even 1€ cheaper).


I opted for postmarketOS, which doesn't support microG, on an old device. Going Degoogled was my only option for anything remotely maintained, which was a priority.

It's nice to see my old device get some patches, but I'm not sure how much I'll use it since ARMv7 is mostly being phased out.

Overall, using postmarketOS and trying to go completely without Google apps (and without microG) has been interesting. Not sure I could recommend it, but it did force me to discover some very useful (and quite nice) OSS apps.


A few things to consider:

1) Rental EVs could be acceleration and charge capped to reduce excessive strain on the drivetrain.

2) Some customers may be seeking an EV without artificial limiters.

3) Rental companies could charge more for removing performance limiters.


That's not true.

My wife and I had to exchange a rental because it was producing excessive exhaust, the alignment was so bad it pulled, and an engine service indicator was on.

Rentals are frequently driven hard and may not get basic routine service (that should happen more frequently due to being driven hard).

RDRAM == Rambus DRAM as far as I know. It's a trademark or some such.

Consumer VR hasn't had it's Blackberry moment yet!

Coincidentally, someone I interacted with mentioned "I never thought I'd get rid of my Blackberry" in passing, which reminded me of the term once popular term "Crackberry".


I own one and I like it. The build quality is very good.

There's a number of things promised (like proximity unlock) that haven't been delivered, otherwise the latest 2.0 OTA is acceptably stable.

It has been a rollercoaster of an experience and the initial software my vehicle was delivered with was quite bad.

I wish others would understand there are many that do not want to see them succeed and, while Fisker has made many mistakes, some of these reports are very much sensationalized.

On topic of not being able to exit the vehicle, the details are unclear. When child lock isn't enabled, there's supposed to be an emergency exit procedure (two long pulls on the door latch should release the door, independent of electronics). I was locked out of my vehicle once with a very early software release and that lasted 20min. Upon opening the windows remotely via the app, the manual latch procedure worked to open the door from the inside handle (and set off the car alarm).

This is absolutely the very last thing in the world I want to say/hear about a car. We're literally trusting our lives with these software updates, and this bar doesn't sound nearly high enough.


The infotainment and drivetrain are separate (but integrated) components, thankfully. And this applies to all modern vehicles AFAIK, which is a really good thing, because every modern vehicle I know of has some software issues.

And agreed, the bar needs to be higher.


A relative of mine works there. I can confirm that they are hyper focused (at least he is) on fixing all the issues customers have reported.


Anecdotally, I've been shopping for a product with a substantial price tag. I thought I had a complete list of every brand and model I wanted to see. Eventually I found my favorite in a showroom from a manufacturer that's not well known and wasn't on my list. Online, there's hardly any comparisons or reviews that aren't affiliated with a seller or manufacturer.

This. I find it very difficult to get into a "flow state". Simple meetings such a a standup are highly interruptive for me, especially when time zones push "morning" meetings mid day.


And someone in a "flow state", headed in the wrong direction, is even more wasted time than a meeting to coordinate efforts in the right direction.


If you are experiencing this frequently, your team may have general communication and planning issues.
