Do you have any example queries? The only spam I normally see are the sites scraping Stack Overflow but they are never above the actual Stack Overflow page.

Most "experts" I meet know... nothing. They don't know basics of their jobs, they don't think how their design / code will have effect for people other then... them.
I currently recommend Kagi.com, it can block but also pin selected domains at the top of the results list.
