Are you hiring engineering interns?

Why do these multimillion dollar companies have such shitty diagrams?

*edit: shitty as in pixelated; not the content

You want the shitty diagrams because those come from actual engineers. The beautiful ones come from marketing.

This is a really poor excuse. Just because you're technical doesn't mean you're not responsible for presenting your content in a appealing and clean way.

Being an engineer doesn't mean you have zero design mindset. Engineers make beautiful diagrams too.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A diagram that conveys the information that took the minimum amount of time to generate and has the aesthetic that appeals to the engineer is beautiful. Maybe you have different taste?

My comment was concerning the quality of the image not the content. The pictures in the article are pixelated.

Point was, you're not likely to get a purely functional resource out of marketing, not whether engineers are capable of producing marketing-quality materials.

They didn't spend all their money making diagrams, duh.

> I wouldn’t, but that’s because of something deeper than anything we experience in America or Australia.

I'm sick of this holier than thou attitude that people have here. There's this patronizing attitude that if only the brain washed Chinese knew what was really happening they would rise up! Yet you know about the Nayirah testimony, MKUltra, Snowden, Cambridge Analytica, migrant camps... why aren't you out protesting, storming congress, why isn't Bush in prison, why isn't Trump impeached? It's not a "small minority"; it's the majority. Most Americans don't care enough to find out and if they did they wouldn't care enough to do anything.

I'd argue that the propaganda is much deeper and subtle in the West. The media is a oligarchy yet it's still "independent" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWLjYJ4BzvI You believe are the good guys despite history despite everything.

Trump isn't impeached simply because not enough representatives think that these are sufficiently severe atrocities to do so, and not enough people think that these are severe enough to undermine the state institutions.

You have legislators and media critical of the government wrt CA and migrant camps. That's why you don't see so much civil disobedience, because these concerns are visibly reflected in the government.

This doesn't mean I disagree with you that Chinese who know more about Tiananmen wouldn't "rise up", but against your argument that it is propaganda in the West that prevents people from civil disobedience.

I would agree that propaganda and soft power shape opinion and taboo in the West and US, but on the other hand, I don't think that this insidious and subtle propaganda is anywhere near as powerful as the total propaganda and coercion practiced by some other regimes.

>why isn't Bush in prison, why isn't Trump impeached? It's not a "small minority"; it's the majority

Because in America you can openly talk about those things on the press and the internet and comments, and thus let off steam...

Of course the end result is the same, as in China they keep happening!

This is literally in the second sentence of the article

>A superhuman poker-playing bot called Pluribus has beaten top human professionals at six-player no-limit Texas hold’em poker...

It was a joke.

do you mind talking a bit about how you got into the field?

Video game console hacking. Wanted to run my own code on my console back before phones and laptops were so cheap.

Pretty much all of the seriously talented reverse engineers I've met started out hacking video games as teenagers. Also, IDK if you remember me from back in the day, but hi! ^.^

> 30 separate tweets in a row trying to explain something

Twitter is definitely not a good platform for something like this

why would they make the limit so low?

Not sure, the 1000 limit is in the file from its very first version 10 years ago: https://github.com/reddit-archive/reddit/commit/33fd4e9684ca...

1000 probably seemed like a lot at the time or had reasonable performance, and it's just never been changed.

I agree, I think that it should have been decriminalized instead (similar to how it is in Portugal).

Decriminalization allows criminals to continue to profit from dealing drugs. Legalization will make it harder for them to fund their operations as they now will be competing against real businesses. No longer shall a willingness to engage in illicit activity be sufficient to succeed in this market.

> but there has to be some form of normalization for students whose parents/culture/childhood environment didn't value education

You can't possible judge that unless you resort to stereotypes. How do you tell an Asian/Jewish student whose parents didn't put immense value on their education to one that did. You simply can't without making sweeping generalizations based on someone's appearance.
