Anyone uses MKNetworkKit? I use MKNetworkKit in most of my small projects which has a much simpler API and works well.

My opinion. I am a DO user and I don't think you can use it for production application. Casual hosting is fine.

For production servers, deterministic backups are very important. DO does not provide that. I faced a lot of issues when transitioning my server from non-backup to backup mode. To do that, you need to take a snapshot(server shutdown is required for this)of server. Then, you need to destroy it to get the same ip. There is a chance that your ip may go to someone else & any services that are dependent on ip may need changes. I was lucky to loose the ip for a while & get it back after some trial & error.

Also, you don't have any control on the backup. It is taken by the system and is supposed to be anywhere between 2-3 days.

Are those the only backups you take? I have all of my code stored in git, and my database (and assorted files) get backed up each night to aws. I figure a snapshot is my first line of defense, and aws is my backup in case this doesn't work.

Nice. Any plans on using this data to extract some more insights?

Yes, I have also read the similar story about Steve jobs taking picture of visitors with their iPhone in front of Apple

Totally agreed. Any kind of daily physical activity (could be exercise, some sport, dance, anything) will definitely help.

Just had a quick look and it seems that to use HPCC you will have to learn some new syntax (not sure though). Hadoop is based on java and most developers know it well. This could be a problem with widespread adoption of HPCC.

Would like to know your view :)

It annoys me as well. Only interested people will bother to have a look at it and telling them nothing about you application won't get you their email id for sure. Either share more information or wait until your are ready to share it.

I think most of the web startups prefer scripting languages in which their founders/developers are comfortable. It could be Php, Java, Ruby, Python or any other language. I would prefer Perl as I m good with it and can get things done quickly :)

I agree. Before we started our project we had to decide which web framework to use. We chose Django because we're comfortable with python. Also, django seemed to be very well documented. (The others may also have great docs. I don't know cause I've never really checked.)

Thanks for the links. Now next time if I need to search HN, I will have to find your comment first (to get links) :) It would be great to have this link on HN homepage. Also, it will help in reducing the duplicate posts. People can do a quick search and check if their topic is already posted by someone else.
