This is explored in detail in "Why Are the Prices So Damn High?" [1]

"Education and healthcare are notable examples of sectors seemingly stricken by constantly rising prices ... At the same time, home appliances and telecommunications have become much cheaper. Why?"

[1] https://www.mercatus.org/publications/healthcare/why-are-pri...

Heathcare costs for workers spiraling out of control makes them expensive, so fields where you can't outsource the labor become disproportionately expensive.

> The health department has exactly zero plans regarding the vaccine

I'm in San Francisco and a family member runs a specialty clinic here. They worked directly with the health department last week to get their staff vaccinated as part of Phase 1a described here: https://sf.gov/covid-19-vaccine-san-francisco

I'm not saying the performance so far is outstanding or good, but it's simply not true that the health department "has exactly zero plans regarding the vaccine".

I mean members of the board of supervisors can't even figure out if the health department has an actual plan or what it is https://twitter.com/MattHaneySF/status/1349189438241325057

I guess "exactly zero" is poor wording, but they seem to only have a very loosely defined plan that hasn't bothered going beyond phase 1A tier 1 even though vaccines started being distributed a month ago and 2/3 of them statewide are just sitting around.

Henry Rollins' "Iron and the Soul" is a fantastic take on this as well: https://www.oldtimestrongman.com/articles/the-iron-by-henry-...

The screen is detachable. It can attach to the keyboard facing either direction.

Have you tried using multi-process tabs? http://www.ghacks.net/2014/02/13/firefoxs-multi-process-arch...

It looks like the prefs to enable it have been shipping beyond the nightly and are in the latest release.

I didn't know about this. Hopefully it's stable.

EDIT: looks fairly stable. Back to Firefox.

Oo neat I didn't know this was an option for FF

Multi-process Firefox (aka Electrolysis or just e10s) is till under development. If you want to test it, I recommend using Firefox Nightly (34) because it has recent e10s bug fixes and its File menu has a "Open e10s Window". You can test e10s and non-e10s windows without flipping an about:config pref or restarting Firefox. You can flip the optional pref browser.tabs.remote.autostart to true to enable e10s by default, which also enables extra "shims" for add-on compatibility so more add-ons will work than with "New e10s Window".

Do you think this might solve some of the stability (memory) issues so many people have been seeing since the last release?

Have one left (email in profile).

edit: gone!
