did you read the US or the UK version of the books?

i think it's more that he fills his books with a ton of filler. could probably reduce the books by 1/3 and lose nothing of interest/value

Travel + Leisure | https://www.travelandleisure.com/ | Orlando, FL or remote (certain roles) | Full Time | Multiple Roles

Travel and Leisure is hiring multiple positions. https://www.tnldt.com the VP and the Director roles will require residency in orlando, the other roles are remote, US based.

We are a .net (C#) stack, MsSQL as our backend. Smalltalk for our booking engine. feel free to reach out to christopher.sterling@travelandleisure.com (no recruiters at this time please) if you have any questions, or apply though the links on the site in the 1st paragraph.

100% this. we had a contracting company and in the first year changed out our source control system because they didn't like it.

We went from a mono-repo (which worked for us) to 50 separate repos because they couldn't figure out how to manage a mono-repo.

They changed our daily work style, forced sprinting on us, and then had to backtrack when execs told them to change what they were doing. They still don't quite know how to manage us, but they are sure trying to force their ways of working on to us

I don't think that's the right reason to flag an article

That’s actually a pretty good reason to flag an article. It’s not much different than any article mentioning politicians. People aren’t able to engage on articles surrounding musk or any of his companies intelligently.

Ok, I unflagged

This might help with a project i've been toying with. obviously US focused, but parse all the school calendars I could find and then query the dataset for like "when is the best time I could go XYZ and see as few school kids as possible"

would look at schools in the area and look at all the calendars and show the time where the majority of schools are in session

This... might be a bad idea.

Unfortunately there are some perverts who would love to use it for the inverse reason.

How so? I don't think it is especially difficult to find children and I don't see how this would help perverts.

This seems more useful for example finding out when statistically there be the least amount of families traveling to Disney World, or a particular beach in Florida etc.. by avoiding the most common Spring Break weeks.

1) Keep moving. Exercise and stretch. Even if it takes half an hour to get going, don't just sit in a chair all day or soon you won't be able to do anything but sit in a chair.

Dad got his mom a physical therapist and she comes multiple times a week to help her either move or just do like light arm workouts

That's fantastic. My hope is that I'll remember this stuff for myself as I get older.

for me, the article cut off after this paragraph:

OnlyFake lets essentially anyone generate fake IDs in minutes that may seem real enough to bypass various online verification systems. Or at least fool some people

> I'm fine with AT&T no longer supporting landlines if they start supporting fiber to every household.

that actually did happen with dad. He was working and off a sudden his internet stopped working, put up a screen saying he was on "vacation hold" and to call in and remove it.

He called in, got it removed. Next day, he can a call from AT&T retention telling him he needed to upgrade to the fiber and they were discontinuing their copper plan

What is "hilarious" is that elsewhere, AT&T sells outdated DSL, still. But they lobby to have DSL speeds and customers removed from broadband surveys and requirements because they are "obsolete and outdated".

They still sell them. In some cases, your only option. But they don't count for dragging down AT&T's broadband 'scores' and 'speeds' because ... it's inconvenient and reasons...
