Actually it does show the desktop, thats how sad it is.
The guy made some rainbow colored Chrome OS logo which isn't even correct, google never uses rainbow colors beyond the "Google". It looks like XFree + some crappy mac-like window manager.
I thought it was common knowledge that microsoft is announcing the RTM sign-off on Monday 7-13-2009. This has been known for a while.
WZor.net has more information but they should be choosing which candidate build is the RTM shortly, and then an officially announcement will come Monday.
Both. Microsoft has always stated they were interested in getting into the search business, so there is no surprise there. The fact that they've released something that is actually good may have spurred Google to make their announcement before having something to actually demonstrate.
I would imagine (as most have) that they are releasing some sort of Google-centric Linux distribution. This would make sense as it doesn't take long to roll your own if you know what you are doing (and I'm pretty sure Google knows how to do this).
From google's blog post I'm under the impression that while based on a linux kernel it will have very little actual code from linux. It sounds like they are writing their own version of X with a minimalistic window manager.
I very much like the look of the chrome browser so I'm looking forward to checking this out. Specially since I'm one of those that doesn't do much on his home machine besides web based stuff.
since google chrome runs on microsoft windows, I think it would only be fair if microsoft internet explorer would be allowed to run on google chrome os (under the condition that ms would port it, which seems rather unlikely)
The first thing you should do is essentially read her what you've typed here. It sounds like your relationship would benefit a great deal from some openness. She isn't going to react to this badly.
And in my experience with women, a little bit of time goes a long way if you do it right. Surprise her with flowers. Take her on a picnic. These things don't take much time but give her something to brag about to her lady friends.
You'd be surprised how just a few hours a week can convert a downward spiral relationship into a flourishing one.
I wouldn't be so sure ... "WHAT? You share our personal problems with the whole internet? You are going to let a bunch of nerds decide on our relationship?"
Of course, she may as well be a very reasonable person, but we don't know.
Taken a little bit too literally. I meant that he should share his dilemma with her. How she is a very important part of his life but so is the startup. However even if taken literally I doubt she would react the way you are saying. From what he's said she sounds like a tech literate person and may have even posted a question of her own somewhere on the tubes.
I agree. I guess my main point was that an app like that could spread like a virus if placed in the right hands within a tight community like a college dorm. At the same time, it seems a little anal/nerdy to take a picture of an item before you hand it off. "Yeah you can borrow that, one sec though, let me take a picture of it and document that you were the one who borrowed it." It needs to be as simple and effortless as possible.
It would be unreasonable to say everyone falls neatly into that category. I like the idea. It might make some iPhone owners more likely to lend out their stuff. People that wouldn't normally.
