I’ve been using Nhost for the past year and both the software and founders have been really great. There’s a vibrant discord community, an active group of contributors, and it all makes for a very productive stack.

Highly recommended!

This was the first thing that came to my mind

Yup

I just recently launched https://slideswithfriends.com for exactly this purpose — it's a slide-based game builder with a bunch games made for team building. Imagine Jackbox-meets-Powerpoint but designed for companies.

We have a lot of trivia games, some Quiplash-style games, photo sharing games, and other interaction slides that make for some really interesting and fun event options. And everything we have is customizable so you can add content specific to your company if you want.

Plus there's a sound board :)

This looks really neat and I'd love to connect and talk about partnering somehow.

I'm working on a related project[1] aimed at the same problem but with a slightly different take. We don't do game hosting and our software is more of a "build your own zoom games" platform with a slideshow/presentation UI. But I think a lot of companies probably want a dedicated host and would be happy to pay for it (I'd be interested to know what that breakdown looks like).

In terms of what games you're working on, I think you're on the right track with games that help create real connections and deeper relationships. It looks like remote work will be permanently elevated (not to current numbers, but estimates look like >300% above pre-pandemic levels[2]). Bottom line is I think the team bonding and remote closeness problem is here to stay.

I'm working on a game builder to make remote team events more fun — imagine a trivia or Jackbox-style game customized specifically for your company or team. The UI is mirrored after a presentation/slide builder (e.g. Powerpoint) but you can add all sorts of deeper interactions like multiple choice questions, vote-for-your-favorite-answer games, and even image uploads.

It's called Slides with Friends: https://slideswith.com

As you might expect this started as a pandemic side project, but it's since turned into a full-fledged company and we've had lots of demand to solve the very real and very difficult problem of creating team connection/cohesion remotely.

Message me if you're interested in this space, I'd love to talk!

Just applied.

I've been looking for something like this for the past few months — we've recently shipped our MVP and I'm gearing up for the long push to find good marketing channels and the right features/message to fit. I find it incredibly valuable to have good community support during this phase because there's often very little outside positive feedback.

And I personally love the bootstrapper focus and the entire SEAL concept (this was the first I'd heard of it).

Interesting feature release even though it doesn't impact many of us (e.g. 150k/yr buy-in). I'm very curious to see exactly what level of personalization and per-user optimization their Optimize360 suite offers. I think this is the sort of thing that is going to take enterprise testing to the next stage and probably give Optimizely and VWO a very hard time.

Also, side note, did Google borrow the 360 branding from Adobe or the other way around? http://www.adobe.com/marketing-cloud/web-analytics.html (see: Adobe Customer360)

Optimizely and especially VWO are not the same class of products.

Could you expand on it a bit?

This is awesome --> "In order to make research progress faster, we are additionally supplying a new version of a pre-trained Inception-v3 model that is ready to be fine-tuned or adapted to a new task. We demonstrate how to use this model for transfer learning on a simple flower classification task."

Fine-tuning these models for different applications has been a great way for me to build out new things without relying on an enormous fleet of K40s to train a new set from scratch. Lots of progress in this field, thanks to the whole team for releasing this.

"Valuations are based on what the company might accomplish (potential energy), not what it's actually accomplishing (kinetic energy)"...

I'm not exactly sure why but for some reason this metaphor irks me. Just seems like a stretch, I'd probably be happier leaving the actual physics terms out of a statistics/financial discussion.

we're used to a lot, a few more is ok.

Burn rate, churn, runway, incubator, cottage, organic, stale, etc

momentum. Fuel in the tank. viral. exponential. phase shift. trajectory. lasing. More heat than light.

viral is the real good one.

I agree with this entirely. I've been waiting patiently for a way to add microphone distance to my Echo and this is perfect for that... except it doesn't work that way.

I am very much hoping they fix it in the future and add a software layer to combine/route commands with one single wake word.
