Plus the downloads are served by mirrors and torrents anyway.

It used to be that he had a handful of core people who helped out, but it was never official AFAIK.

I feel the same as you. I used Slackware on my primary machine for about a decade, but the long silence between 14.2 and 15 made me nervous.

To be fair, there has been no “silence,” the stream of updates has been quite lively.

Yes, -current has been moving along. I'm too lazy for rolling release though.

Well, CK2 is now complete, and you can often find it with all DLCs for a decent price.

I bought CK2 years back, in a pack with all the then-existing DLCs. Then they added a lot more. I'm just defeated, I give up. I refuse to deal with products that don't have a clear feature-set and pricing. You don't have to deal with those studios when there are so many out there that don't actively try to squeeze you.

Ck2 is nice because it doesn't run slow like EU4, Stellaris, or HOI4

Yeah, CK2 runs nicely on a laptop. The newer games are just a bit much. I wish we could have the same gameplay and systems with a less-fancy engine.

Australian birds have a huge evolutionary advantage over species in other parts of the world. Modern birds evolved in Australia.

That's a fascinating book, and led to a fascinating wikipedia rabbit hole, thank you!

It used to move with the scroll wheel. Starting with Big Sur it no longer does. No idea who thought that was a good idea.

Back in the day I used to force all websites to not only use my font, but my font size.

I no longer bother since switching to HiDPI displays, but it was helpful for a while.

I wish I could choose my own font!

You can just call ‘tar xvf’ and it will detect the compression format.

My question was about how "tar xvzf" should be called "untar".

Your reply might still make sense (i.e. untar could automagically figure it out), but I was highlighting how tar/untar today also means (de)compressing that tar archive using many different compression formats.

It should probably be `untar --format gzip`
