We just released our product. It's not a web app, it's an r&d tool that helps architects and alike to get real life measurements from photos. In our first blog post, we tell our story. Any feedback (about software, website, etc.) appreciated.

great design (in addition to the content). How did you make it? I like the right contents column changing topic as I read.

The position of the articles are stored in an array when the dom is loaded.

When the document scrolls it compares the scroll position to the stored offset positions.

If an article is close enough to the scroll offset it's highlighted.

I think you are missing the point here, as an example, Amazon cannot sell ebooks in its own site if it's cheaper than the version in app store, if so they remove it from app store. Apple is trying to control pricing outside of its distribution network. That's what I understand from the whole story.

It's very hard to comment when we don't know how bad the idea sucks. Perhaps you're wrong and your partner's right. Since you are close to launch, why not just put some more effort and launch it?

I just read this blog post, and I think I am biased: http://paulbuchheit.blogspot.com/2009/01/communicating-with-...

Video in the first page is too small and don't have audio (is it me only?). So, I really could not tell what it's about. And while you're at it, you can drop quicktime control widget of video to make it look more professional.

nice page design and all, but without creating a user, I don't understand a lot from that front page. Maybe you can provide a demo user, so that people can see what they can get.

There's no sound in the video yet. Trying to find someone with a nice voice :) I'll do a demo account for HN.

oh my bad..

Forgive my ignorance (and being a non-US), I could not understand who he points his finger to vote (obama or mccain). I really don't know about their tax policies.

Apart from that, I think not only in US but all around the world, these kinds of taxes should be reduced. But in only favor of the employees. I mean, an employer should have an option to pay tax or spend that amount on creating new jobs. Otherwise, rich bussinessowners spend that tax money (or save it for worse days) and also still spend their employees when their bussiness is not good.

He's anti-Obama. The reference to "change" and the bottom 95% were straight out of Obama's campaign.

I have been using wxWidgets for about 5 years now with C++. At first, it was really difficult to do everything in code, hard to change GUI when you need to, very time consuming. But still it was the best option, our project was cross platform. It was also difficult to understand how to build and link.

However, once you get the basics it's quite fast and also have threads, networking, file streaming etc, so you don't need a zillion of libraries to do every little thing. Oh, and it has a great OpenGL support (see my projects at http://www.ccsoft.com.tr for screenshots)

With the help of wxFormBuilder (a free design tool), now design and modfications are very much faster.

Besides, it's been there for about 15 years. There is a decent documentation, a book, a large community to answer your questions.

My only plan is to do a project on wxPython and polish my python knowledge and see which (C++ or Python) suits me better.

gamasutra has a nice project page, you can post your project and get offers. never used it though..

another popular game development site is gamedev.net, you can post in their forums and may find skilled people.

Interesting. Do you know if you can make a living out of it?

I would ask my self, if my startup fails, can I find a similar job again? If so, why think about it?..
