Youtube Poops and Shreds. Two art forms of upmost beauty.

YouTube Poop feels like it descends spiritually from YTMND to me. YTMND was the best:

I am currently in the process of the same transformation. Joining a quant desk, where unit testing, code review and code readability are top priorities really helps a lot.

Is it an article? I think I just read a very lengthy eToro ad.

Such UX, wow!

Aren't derivative posts of hacker news derivatives a bit derivative?

Same frequency here. But I still find it better than checking the news/tw/fb/yt.

I treat HN like nicotine patches. It's still addictive but much better than the alternatives.

I came across HN just because the HN bot on Twitter had the most interesting links in my feed.

Any blog posts/papers on what the best general approach to onliene reviews is?

Good, qualified, honest reviewers.

Hal Varian (UC Berkeley) has some 1990s refs, which remain good. "Grouplens" is the project/product.

Randy Farmer literally wrote the book on the topic. There's a book, blog, and wiki.

Frankly, Farmer's work, good as it is, largely reinforces my view that Varian captured the essence of the problem, which I've summarised in my opening 'graph. You cannot algorithmically correct for crap quality assessment.

If you're interested in the long-form answer, the fields are epistemology (philosophy) and epistemics (science).

Enjoy!

I wrote a blog post about a simpler and statistically grounded method: http://julesjacobs.github.io/2015/08/17/bayesian-scoring-of-...

The bear hunts me until this day.

The history article seems to confirm that it's indeed an abominable snow monster.

Hi Peter, is there a way to transfer F1 to J1 visa, so that me as a SO of the F1 holder can get J2 (as a spouse) to be able to work in the US? More specifically - that would be the only reason for my SO to switch the visa type, which IMHO is not sufficient.

It's possible but this would depend on both your school and the particular J-1 sponsor. Usually, it's not possible if it's to switch from F-1 OPT to a J-1.

Czech republic is a multicultural success story?

There ain't a lot of terrorism in CZ, though the country is filled with hatred mainly towards gipsies and now muslims. Even the government in order to remain elected boycotts EU's directives about accepting migrants and anyone who's not white. I kid you not.
