Looks like we found the “things that never happened” double Jeopardy for today

> you can do whatever you want to yourself.

Uh, women would like a word.

The argument against abortion is that the fetus is a separate person, and thus is not something you do "to yourself."

Uh yeah I don’t think anyone needs to have “the argument” explained. I have yet to see an explanation for why it deserves any merit though.

I'm pro-choice, but I think that it's not an unreasonable stance if you believe that the fetus is an alive human being with intrinsic worth, or a soul. (Souls aren't real, but >75% of Americans believe in them.)

None of that is a refutation of what I said though, since I reject the notion that belief in the existence of the soul can be used as justification for stripping a person of their bodily autonomy.

If we found out cancer cells had souls tomorrow, exactly no one would be screaming “but their souls!” at folks walking into a cancer clinic.

"since I reject the notion ..."

Well, that's a you problem. The rest of us make decisions based on what we believe, not on what you believe.

you put an adults bodily autonomy over a innocent babies life.

I would hope most people have enough self awareness to not compare a foreign hostile disease that does nothing but kill its host to a human life.

“not all men”-ing libertarian crypto bro gun nuts is really a “fourth-level-down in Inception” own goal

Who was the gun nut in your fantasy? All I read was guys shooting and not wearing protection, something any 'gun nut' would know and preach. Seems you are inserting your own, unfounded, bias.

1Blocker already mentioned, but it is is absolutely fantastic.

The iOS version also blocks in-app trackers (in other apps, outside of Safari) and YouTube app ads via its firewall feature.

Even the IDL admitted they couldn’t confirm those reports. Hamas has done plenty of atrocious things, we don’t need to sensationalize.

What do you mean IDL did not confirm those reports? Hamas itself published those videos proudly. IDL have videos of the kibbutz massacres

There is nothing sensational to state facts. Denial would be sensational and would require introspection.

You said they beheaded civilians including babies, that’s sensational. There were horrific acts, yes, but any reports of beheading of babies has been refuted by reporters and even the IDF.

"reports of beheading of babies has been refuted by reporters and even the IDF" No. Unless you are going to link to sources. Read the IDF spokesman wordings carefully.

https://www.businessinsider.com/idf-says-wont-back-up-behead...

I’m not denying massacres took place or that Hamas has done unforgivable things. Just that baby-beheading specifically is getting thrown around a lot without proof and even Israel is refusing to corroborate the claims.

Reports of attacks on babies are common in war propaganda, Iraqi troops removing babies from incubators in Kuwait comes to mind. This has a long history: https://www.theguardian.com/education/2001/oct/04/socialscie...

Be there.

I was 14 when we had to put our first animal down; my mom, someone I guess you’d describe as hyper-emotional, was a wreck. A year later we had another, thankfully just of old age, but she “couldn’t bear it again” so I was in the vet by myself because I didn’t want my cat to be alone when she passed. It sure sucked doing it alone and feeling like I had to be the grownup, but I’ve never regretted my choice.

If you need to bring a friend to help get you through it, then do. But be there, no matter what. The closure that it offers is invaluable.

I’m so sorry. I hope you both find peace.

I don’t see that happening tbh, since they made Secure Notes for this purpose which (i would assume they believe) offers a better experience than storing not-logins with logins. Secure Notes offer the same level of security as the keychain IIRC.

No one said they don’t have the resources. They just asked why it’s incumbent on Apple to spend them, which your response.. doesn’t address at all? If we’re going to post with that much sarcasm let’s try to have equal amount of substance to go with it?

My anecdata is the opposite of yours. My backup history is over 15 years old!

I started backing up using Time Machine when I got my first Mac in 2006. Migrated my sparsebundle from my first Time Capsule to another when I needed a bigger one, then migrated that to a number of other drives drives over the years (which thankfully never failed, but I replaced them every 4 years). Have successfully restored from a backup onto at least ten different laptops (I was upgrading every year for a while). I have literally only ever had “one” Time Machine backup in the entire time that I have had a Mac. Honestly, I’m blown away it still works.

I maintain other backups too, I’m not crazy to think that this is rock solid, but at this point I’m keeping it going just to see how long it will last.

That is very impressive!

Up to a few years ago I was constantly hosing my TM drive and starting fresh.

TM has supported multiple destinations for a good long while, so in the past I was always running two TM destinations.

BTW, side note, with SSD prices crashing, I should be able to get rid of the spinning-rust and the luxury of silent local SSD TimeMachines running!
