Interesting, the FAA has announced the first drone delivery air carrier approval in the US will happen in April. I would have thought Flirtey would win this race but according to the NYT the only application listed is from Google Wing.
The amount of oh gotchas and keyboard guesses from lots of google searching is quite comical. Think any real in-depth analysis has been done yet? Silly.
Startups aren't for everyone, and especially if you haven't worked in one or understand what it means to "hustle". The odd thing is, his next startup will be a rocket ship because now he knows the most important fact - have someone willing to pay for what you're doing.
I wonder if he was an early bitcoin investor - his tag at the bottom says bitcoin (heart) before it says "father" so maybe his path was paved with that?
It doesn't take much to be a qualified investor (angel investor). And I don't mean to downplay it or anything either. Really just making the point that good on him for realizing you have to get out and sell. I cheer for anyone that can be an engineer and sales lead. Powerful combo.
Amazon's reach into the FAA is particularly hysterical. Given that Amazon would like to do drone deliveries and has pissed off the FAA in some regards in the past - specific regulatory language confirms this - they have a huge footprint and open door policy in the DC offices. Companies competing in the delivery space like WalMart, UPS, etc should be very nervous about the drafting that goes on now at Amazon's becking.
This brings to mind that recently someone posted in my city's subreddit questions about their visit and where they could park their van. The comments were outrageously unwelcoming and basically forced this person to consider the next city along their trip as the place they should stop. I think what works in one part of the nation doesn't necessarily translate to all of it.
