Disabling JavaScript also works. I have it disabled by default through uBlock Origin so I didn't come across the block message until I enabled it.

everyone cheers the demise of coal, and it is certainly the dirties modern energy source, but this is clearly a dangerous direction until we have enough grid level energy storage. we pay insane amounts for electricity compared to the rest of the world and we think it's due to a greener future, but it really is just bad policy. look how hard it is to get virtual power plants approved in this country or politicians turning off nuclear power generators.

so much politics here. seems like a bunch of issues, including putting lower income people into wealthy neighborhoods, which is an explicit goal of many elected democrats, urban sprawl, which no one seems to worry about these days, housing shortages, which is a big issue. honestly I don't know why people are so focused on marcs opinions, he can afford to lose property value or leave, bit certainly he has every right to fight for his little suburban dream.

I think the bigger issue is that the cities were the future just a few years ago, and now that future isn't as certain.

this will not be the last time someone will make this claim. it is telling that the experts all weighed in declaring it not sentient without explaining what such a metric is. I think this debate an issue of semantics and is clouded by our own sense of importance. in car driving, they came up with a scale 1-5 to describe autonomous capabilities, perhaps they need to have something similar for the capabilities of chatbots. as a system administrator I have always acknowledged that computers have feelings. I get alerts whenever it feels pain.

One thing I don't see mentioned is that sourcehut users are taking the hit for hosting their code there. Some of it is because of natural tech activism and the coders need to create their desired order, but certainly there just typical bullying as well. Of course we're all just human, but I hope that retelling Drew's faults is not to justify any retaliation delivered to sourcehut users.

I consider drew a prolific coder who seems to be focused on all aspects relating to getting good code out of our brains. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he would come out with a new keyboard next.

multiple browsers are the way to go. I had all my eggs in the chrome basket until their login fiasco, but hit limitations with Firefox. I now configure Firefox and brave with the same extensions and use the both equally. using onetab makes it easy to migrate sessions from one browser to the next.

,if you look at the updated to the code of conduct it is clear what solution they are putting forward. the removed the sentence to honor the principle of charity(removed assume good intent), and gave permission to be public scolds ( added speak with good intent). it's a facisnating attribute of American politics that insist generally upbeat people become public scolds, as if them making a fuss is a convincing learning moment.

they should have some sort of hazard like flash when they are stopped for an obstruction like humans in the roadway. that would also reduce the rear end situation where they are unreasonably stopped in traffic due to crappy software.

anyone working with a people located in different regions knows how counterproductive daylight savings is. I've come to that it is inevitable that daylight savings will be eliminated, and the only thing keeping it around is the name implies that legislators have some supreme power over the sun. if we all agreed to cal it "useless time adjustment" i think it would go away quicker.

i do think that we should eliminate different time zones entirely. there isn't a sundial industry that we need to keep afloat. it would be simple and better for people interacting across wide longitudinal gaps. as a first step, i would suggest the united states selecting a single representative timezone, to make the adjustment simple, then just force the rest of the world to follow suit, using climate change as a reason or some such. we can also declare the new proper timezone as metric, to satisfy the europeans.

people say that delta is more contagious but they don't provide hard data to support that. any calculation of r naught is synthetic and there has been little effort to share such models. also, the idea that every new infection is delta isnt based on any randomized testing of samples, but some outdated surveys in the past.
