i cant say much about cron, i use it for simple scripts on systems. When i have a lot of jobs that need to be scheduled routinely and i need alerts if they dont, i use jenkins, it works really well.
I think it is, just spec the one you can use, mine can't do card stock paper and so im a little bummed after finding that out. but have had it for years and the ink doesnt empty, its great.
if you look at the sys admin side, im only excited about long old stable software, not the new stuff. but for technology as in ebikes and things that make my life better, im all for it. A good one was the wii, if i was in a nursing home or an old man and you showed me that thing i would be super excited. Ebikes allow old people to ride bikes again. So two sides of it, improving my life yes, managing systems - keep it stable for me please.
I have a big car, i have kids and its great for trips. I also pull a camper on occasion so its useful. I think for those purposes it works great. Once my kids are out of the house, i will easily down size and even possibly sell the camper.
ive been using dietpi for a long time, its been a really nice option for headless pi. I can't say its faster or better then a raspbian headless but i like how its been put together.
