This might mean GPT-5 is coming soon and it will only be available to paid users.

I'm actually thinking that the GPT store with more users might be better for them

From my casual conversations, not that many people are paying for GPT4 or know why they should. Every conversation even in enthusiast forums like this one has to be interjected with "wait, are you using GPT4? because GPT3.5 the free one is pretty nerfed"

just nuking that friction from orbit and expanding the GPT store volume could be a positive for them

Or they just made a bunch of money on their licensing deal with Apple. So they don't need to charge for ChatGPT anymore.

If it's going to be available via Siri this could make sense.

It does make me wonder how such a relationship could impact progress. Would OpenAI feel limited from advancing in directions that don't align with the partnership? For example if they suddenly release a model better than what's in Siri, making Siri look bad.

I found the lyric alignment quite good for the rap song I tested. What tool has better lyrics alignment?

Looks more like poliwag to me.

Paradox: Japanese children have high independent mobility: young kids can be seen walking to school, taking subway and buses. Yet Japan is known for high suicide rate.

I wonder if adults can also benefit from unstructured play

They can, but you have to shape it a little bit so that they're out of the comfort zone and playing in a different role than their usual. It's the role, not the formal structure, that is important.

Improv acting, for example, centers simple "improv games". Playing the game imposes moments of vulnerability and creativity. But if you don't add enough context some proportion of the actors will fall into habit and "play like a winner", knocking over everyone else's boundaries by being an asshole.

SEEKING CO-FOUNDER | Gaming | Lead game dev/designer | Worldwide | Pre-seed

Even Zuckerberg acknowledges that it is about money in the linked article:

"Fundamentally, we’re making all these changes for two reasons: our revenue outlook is lower than we expected at the beginning of this year, and we want to make sure we’re operating efficiently across both Family of Apps and Reality Labs. "

It is about trimming the fat mainly. Meta is still absolutely a money printing machine.

In fact, this is one of those truisms about the "down" side of the classical business cycle - that recessions partly function as an excuse to cut inefficiencies. How accurate this truism is, I don't know.

Proof is that Meta stock is up today. I don't like this system of value, but it's what we've got.

Today's price action is rarely a reflection of today's news.

"trimming the fat" - this is such an unfortunate phrase. In evolutionary terms, fat is what let species survive lean periods.

This is a lean period, and the fat that meta had enabled them to cut fat rather than cut muscle or bone, making them now more lean, but still strong. The fat they had served its purpose similar to how fat serves its purpose during famine.

and in modern terms it makes you a social pariah. Really though trimming the fat probably refers to a butcher removing the unwanted flesh from meat, not losing weight.

Spot on. The clue it’s not about evolution is that you don’t “trim” fat from a live animal.

This one-line AI could be of interest: https://clipasso.github.io/clipasso/

Brilliant! Thanks for that link. I'm definitely going to incorporate that.

How do you make money from this? Or do you not?

The only way I'm making any money (very very little) is from my BuyMeACoffe page https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mastershot.

Serious question: Are you interested in selling Mastershot? I'd love to hear more about you and the evolution of the app. If you're interested: tyler at failure.inc

He only talked cause he had nothing to lose. The ranger didn't really have much to do with it

If that's true, he would've talked a long time ago. He refused to talk to many investigators from various states who also could've gotten the same letter not seeking the death penalty (presuming the guy was already convicted for life), only Holland got him to talk. So, yes Holland is partly if not entirely responsible for getting him to talk.

I read the article, Holland definitely got the guy to talk through unconventional means. He has killers draw their victims. He seems unaffected by the flat way the killer describes his victims. It’s almost like becoming the killers “advocate” (lack of a better word) instead of prosecutor.

I’m not claiming you’re wrong; I’m just curious—are his methods actually unconventional? Once a person is serving a life sentence (nothing to lose), and there’s nothing his cooperation can do to get him out of prison (nothing to gain), it seems pretty obvious to me that anyone wanting to work with him would need to try something like what Holland has done.
