Per the FCC, "Federal law prohibits the operation, marketing, or sale of any type of jamming equipment, including devices that interfere with cellular and Personal Communication Services, police radar, Global Positioning Systems, and wireless networking services (Wi-Fi)."

Although, I'm sure an exception would be made for law enforcement on the grounds of national security.

However, like most app games that potential revenue isn't sustainable. Users stop downloading, stop playing, stop paying. Some new app game comes along and users move on.

That's a nice problem to have.

After my company gets our "$200m+ a year", I would think of something else to sell. Or not.

Two other options are selling the company or an IPO.

This is one thing that bothers me about Zynga et al. The entertainment business has always been like this, you can't have a movie run in the theaters for years on end. I don't think why they think a game will work differently if the put enough analytics in it.

You can't have the same movie run for years (well, unless it's Rocky Horror), but you can have the same premise. In the same way you can have the same kind of game (Farmville -> Cityville, etc etc) but with a different setting, look, etc.

Especially considering the game has been available on smartphones for less than a year

Maybe I haven't had my coffee yet, but why wouldn't they want people to link to their site? That's the point of the Web.

inverse psychology? I don't know...

While it could be reverse psychology to troll HNers to linking their site, it's also bad publicity among hackers, and the argument breaks Occam's razor.

I believe Hanlon's razor more closely explains this site's actions.

After some time, no one will remeber and this would have bought them the required buzz.. At the end, any publicity is good publicity.

This is pretty much why I hate ticketmaster. Too many brokers/scammers using programs like this, so the everyday consumer can't purchase tickets as they're sold out before the presale!

Yes you are right but the fact is that most people preferred ticketmaster if they want to buy tickets, and this software is really awesome in getting tickets online within a single click, if you want ticket a single or in a bulk.

Are there any sites out there keeping track of how Congressional reps will vote? I just got a letter from my Senator saying she supports SOPA (and turns out is a sponsor of the bill). Gillibrand-NY

One cannot patent anything that naturally exists. But one can patent strategies. Business methods, medical, and, until recently, tax strategies can be patented. Tax strategy patents were recently banned in the America Invents Act. There has been legislation to ban medical strategy/method patents, and frankly I'm surprised it hasn't been banned yet legislatively. And the federal courts in the past have limited business strategy patents (Bilski v. Kappos). It seems to me SCOTUS should move to limit medical strategy patents in their decision. But if they don't, this may spur Congress to actually do something.

This is a great and much needed. It's unfortunate Facebook doesn't offer this as a general setting when you're prompted. Thanks for putting this together!

The same reason that pizza is now a vegetable, they only want to tackle topics that are backed by their donating special interests. We need to fight back against those corporations that are supporting this bill.
