Freedombox foundation is trying to achieve the same end result.

Tonido (http://www.tonido.com) is a pioneer in this space. They have invented the model much before opera unit. The cool thing is that Tonido also provides a decentralized openid to end users.

Firefox should buy Tonido. It will change the industry if it happens and the way people share information. I probably may be little ahead. If you think deeply it will make sense.

Do you work for Tonido? If you do, please provide a disclaimer. What you are doing is borderline spamming. See his comments for yourself [0]

If I'm wrong, I apologize profusely in advance.

EDIT: Parent does work for Tonido [1]. This is spamming.

Even if you were wrong, I don't think you need to apologize. Almost all of his comments were trying to promote something rather than provide meaningful discussion.

It is very relevant to the discussion. If you are not sure check the Tonido architecture.

Yes I work for Tonido. There is nothing wrong in saying we do the same stuff. If u think Tonido is irrelevant to the discussion that is your prerogative.

There's something wrong with blatant self-promotion. Especially considering that you:

- don't use a disclaimer

- pretend you're not involved in the project by talking about "They"

It's a cheap way of trying to game the community to get users.

I agree with you, and in my opinion, this kind of behaviour warrants a ban.

:)

How different Sendoid is from Tonido?(http://www.tonido.com)

With Tonido you can right click any file or folder and it will create an URL for the resource. You can share the URL with anybody for download. There is no limit on file size, no uploading - completely private and secure.

Can't find their send file immediately from the browser button? I don't think my dad's gonna be able to use it without that.

:). I guess your father can right click the files and folder get the link.

I think his point is that browsing to their website, it's not entirely obvious how to quickly share a file. When you initially go to sendoid.com, their link to share a file is the most prominent element on the page.

Having the native hook into context menus is great in the file system, but if your users can't even install the app, what's the point? Having a dead simple browser experience is easier for users because it's one less step to do what they want to do - share files.

Checkout tonido (http://www.tonido.com). You can do everything you have asked for except the email.

Try tonido or tonidoplug. It is a good web based file server and has a p2p collaboration server as well.

It sounds more like Tonido (http://www.tonido.com).

At least, the broader principles:

    * Disk is cheap and getting cheaper

    * Put the user in control. Own your data.

    * Privacy and paranoia

    * Decentralization is important, but..

    * End users won't be dorks. Must also be possible to be easy, hosted.

    * Content-Addressability has so many awesome properties (validation, cachability, etc). Use it as much as possible.

    * Redundancy and over-explicitness is fine. Compression will help. Redundancy and over-explicitness will be convenient for future digital archeologists, too.

thanks. works great.

Congrats Zecter team. Does anybody know the sale price?

Great. Thanks for the tips
