His Lydia Lunch interview struck me as particularly acrimonious

All three of them are trying not to break their character, and it's uncomfortable to watch. Many of his questions are inappropriate and disrespectful, I'm more surprised they could stand 15 minutes of this before walking off.

I was surprised you're allowed to this. But I also haven't read the license.

Don't worry, people are hard at work making sure these AI systems are "aligned".

Nothing for me either. Safari browser and MS Word .doc

I should've specified. Supported types are .docx and .pdf

i upload docx nothing happened in firefox/linux

Bug or feature? I couldn't resist scolling to read the rest of the message and my timer reset!

Pretty easy to install on a ThinkPad T480s. I had to disable Secure Boot and switch the boot type to "Both" instead of "UEFI" or "Legacy".

Trackpad/TrackPoint works.

LAN works.

Wifi works.

Graphics are accelerated (integrated GPU).

Some function keys work.

Speakers work.

Didn't try suspend/sleep/hibernate, HDMI, Thunderbolt, headphones, SD Card.

WebPositive seemed to hang when I went to SoundCloud.

WebPositive, their own webbrowser, isn't great, but there are many acceptable browsers (mostly webkit2 based) available in the package system.

Recently, the developers got Firefox working, but that one isn't available as a package yet. Soon.

Building in the URCRT64 environment means the executables wont run on versions of Windows older than 10 without extra runtime support, I think. So that's something to watch out for.

The market figured out it's cheaper to hire more developers and pile on more crap than to make existing systems more observable.

With respect I cannot fathom how anything is cheaper doing it this way. I think it’s an easier explanation to say it’s lazier, and too many VC-funded firms have so much cash to burn that they simply don’t give a shit what it costs. Only explanation for giving every programmer they onboard a four thousand dollar MacBook Pro to run friggin text editors and all the server space they can buy/rent to run six layers of abstraction and 5 GB of bullshit frameworks to link a web UI to a data store server side and accomplish whatever task.

Like I’m sorry, some offense intended: if you need something like Node or React to render a static web page: you are an embarrassment to my profession and I wish you’d get a different job.

This guy is brilliant. He tries to simplify things when so many are going the other way.
