Some of Larry Ellison's emails with his financial advisor became public and talk about doing just this.

It is common practice for nearly all those wealthy people relying on stocks. What I am interested in is the interest rate they get on those loans.

It's actually lower than retail bank interest rates. For example, if they get a huge mortgage, usually it is at least 100 basis points lower. This is because these people are considered extremely low risk.

I have heard it is pretty common for them to get 1 or 2% because the banks usually want to win their business.

I'm sure you have just didn't realize they were French. Schneider Electric, Technicolor, Atos, etc.

Imagine a list of objects with descriptions or names and these objects need to be drag/dropped. It would make since to disable highlight the object names by mistake.

Also the 'less than $500' is misleading at best. I would understand not factoring in time if it was built in a weekend, but it was two guys for 8 months.

The team was frugal and did what they could on their own to arrive at success. Less than $500.00 came out of their bank account and the time was spent willingly.

A lot of office buildings in the us have the windows permanently closed so you can't open them.

Our office has windows but they have had screws drilled through them so you cant open them. Apparently it was due to new safety regulations.

A lot of office buildings in the US have no windows at all.

This has been why I have enjoyed living and working in Europe (DE and CH): high-quality windows to be opened at a moment's notice at home or in the office.

I agree, the small “people” in other continents don’t truly enjoy the atmosphere in the same way that we do, with the highest quality windows demonstrating the apex of European craftsmanship. Air just doesn’t feel the same when it’s being wafted through a lesser window in an inferior continent.

I heard that other places don’t have toilets, opening windows, or even the opera!

They may have been referring to "tilt and turn" style windows (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT8eBjlcT8s) which I saw everywhere in Germany but I've never seen in the US.

Too bad, they're pretty great.

Most office and hotel buildings in the US can't be opened for fresh air. In Germany, they can. Mostly because AC is not a given for every building.

I am in Austria, in a very modern building, and I believe every second window is blocked, I have never seen where all windows would be blocked.

I'm Curious how you are arriving at the 600ms since ping is already round trip.

The father has 11 days of paternity leave in France.

In Iceland the father has 3 months of paid paternity leave. It is required, however, that parents leave the hospital the next day if everything is normal.

I'd imagine the real reason for the complaint is that the royalty structure is more lucrative for the publishers and/or authors for books vs audiobooks.

The weird thing for me is the people are literally taking a picture of themselves committing a crime. It seems like it would be easy to bring a case against someone doing this?

I would argue that overstated would be wrong because you could surely overstate his role. "He was the only reason Tesla existed, would be overstating his role.

I think "his role shouldn't be understated" would be the correct phrase given the context.

I agree with you. Can I blame "first thing in the morning" posting on my error? Either way, I was incorrect and you have corrected me.
