Grief is deeply personal and unique to each individual. When my dad passed away, I irrationally blamed myself, despite him being in a different country and his sudden stroke. I have PTSD, and looking back, it seems bizarre. There's no single pattern to grief—just countless variations.

does anyone know if any of these tools offer support for a qualitative scores for the results? For example, if I have a text "my little pony.."

python support?

This is unfortunately not something that is currently on the roadmap. Revideo mainly runs inside the browser which is why we built it entirely in Typescript. You can check out moviepy (https://github.com/Zulko/moviepy) for a similar project written in Python.

This is very unfortunate for many PTSD sufferers ( I am one of them). This therapy, at least anecdotally, was leaps and bounds better than current therapies. I hope the FDA reconsiders this decision.

p.s. for those interested in this topic I highly recommend the Netflix documentary and book "How to change your mind" by Michael Pollan

As someone who has take MDMA many times in the past I very sceptical about it's therapeutic value in treating PTSD. The high is incredible, but that comes with a comedown of the opposite feelings; including depression, anxiety, fatigue, and can last from hours to days. Those effects are of course dose dependant.

AFAIK the point of using MDMA for PTSD isn't that it makes you high and happy and then you don't have PTSD - it's that it makes you high and able to talk about experiences you couldn't without MDMA. The therapy is a big part of the process.

I disagree with the bulk of the comments thus far that this is too far-fetched. I believe that AGI, and some of the scenarios the author proposes are possible and society needs to be aware of this likelihood.

The reign of Justinian is often regarded as one of the worst periods to be alive. In 532 AD, the Nika riots erupted, followed by the devastating plague of Justinian in 541-542 AD, which claimed nearly half of the population. This era was further marred by the famine resulting from the volcanic eruption in 536 AD.

I have it on good authority (twitter) that, in fact, 2024 is actually the worst period to be alive.

I’m reading a history of the eastern Roman empire where the author points out that history keeps going after the plague without the consequences one would expect, which wouldn’t be true if it were as bad as some ancient writers claimed. So, it’s unclear but possibly somewhat exaggerated?

Not to mention that Justinian largely bankrupted the state's coffers that Anastasius had so carefully built up in his misguided attempt to reconquer the western part of the empire then proceeded to blame everything on his general Belisarius.

Why was it 'misguided'. Saying it was 'misguided' is only evident historically. The Roman empire had fractured many times before. And has always been put together. So why would the Roman government think it couldn't be done again?

And he was also pretty successful in doing it, returning North Africa, parts of Spain and most of Italy.

Its just that further Germanic invasion came and reversed some of those gains. And the Persian were a contentious problem as well.

The Gothic Wars left Italy devastated and earned the long term enmity of people living on the peninsula who sometimes preferred the Germanic warlords to the bloodless sociopaths ruling out of Constantinople, opening a wedge that would continue to sow division over the centuries. Those wars depopulated the remnants of Rome that had persisted through the prior sacks, and left Italy even more defenseless against future invasions. Justinian had to destroy Rome to save it.

All statements about what people there wanted is pretty much speculation. And often these statements were later simply asserted by later historians.

The initial invasion didn't actually depopulate the Peninsula. It was reconquered but then new invasion from new Germanic people started again. And of course the Roman Empire is gone try to defend Rome and Italy.

Again, this is only obvious in retrospect and had it worked, we would remember it differently. And it had worked many times in the past.

You really don't need to make excuses for Justinian's incompetence, but if you want to, have at it.

Given the amount of wars he won and the territory they still had after he was done, he clearly wasn't incompetent. Africa remained an important part of the empire for centuries for example.

The overextension of Byzantine territory under Justinian led to later collapse, and in the end harmed the Romans and (along with the brutality of the Roman tax farmers) was one of the key steps that paved the way towards the Caliphate's conquests. Justinian did valuable things, his legal work left a constructive lasting mark. His architectural work was lovely but left Rome bankrupt and his foolish conquests (pursued under false pretexts and open lies) left Rome worse off by any humane measures. He was a disaster for the Romans who suffered through his reign and past it. Justinian planted the seeds of both Rome's expansion and collapse and his policies in the Italic peninsula were catastrophic.

That a narrative. And a hard one to make. Between Justinian and the Arab conquest there is a lot of time and multiple emperor, many of those emperors made a lot of mistakes as well. To draw a direct line between Justinian and the Arab conquest is great for a grand narrative book, but I don't think its that clear.

Southern Italy and Africa turned out to be important in the fight with the Persian and the Arabs. Thinks like 'planted the seeds for collapse' isn't a strong argument for me.

Even with money issues its not clear that the empire was worse off when he left the scene.

Like many emperors he spend a lot of money and went on offensive wars to reunite the Roman Empire. He wasn't as successful as some, but more then many.

And the empire after him was strong enough to fight many wars against strong enemies, in the Lombards, the Avars and the Perians. So the empire clearly wasn't weak for the next century. The loss to the Arabs had more to do with Persian Wars that went on for decades.

The article is great but should have covered some of the other universities across the subcontinent: Nalanda, Vikramshila, Takshila etc were the ancient world's equivalent of Oxford, Cambridge, MIT, Harvard.

Over 100 Buddhist universities have been found across India Pakistan Bangladesh Afghanistan etc .. How many do you think they should cover? Also several Mahaviharas exist which are now serving as X-ishwara temples, where votive stupas are being worshipped as Shivas ling (phallus). The whole of India was a major buddhist educational hub. Nalanda was the most famous because several chinese travellers have studied in it, which makes it very important. As there notes is our source to determine Indias Buddhist past.

I want to respond regarding the lingam statement

Like we can save data on a SD card, people tried to save positivity in a object, so that it can be shared with everyone, ling/lingam is made from a particular material and have a particular shape, the shape its just an oval, like a planets orbit around its star, even if you observe Buddhist stupa is bigger version of the same..

There are elaborate processes of how to install positivity in that, prana pratista or mantra pratista

I have no scientific data on how to save positivity in an object , As a Vipassana meditator I feel my meditation session is very smooth when sitting around few Linga

Ling in Sanskrit refers to a thing, like female and male are referred to as Stri-Ling (woman kind, not women phallus) and Purusha-Ling(man kind)...

So Shiv-Ling mean It is representation of Shiva or what ever

Lingam is not a representation it is indeed the phallus or penis that was severed by Indra. According to Brahminical stories. Please educate yourself. Multiple jyotirling apparently are the various fallen pieces of the penis of Shiva according to the Brahman.

Any evidence of the linga claim.

As you may know the story Shivas Phallus was cut by Indra, and now Hindus Worship the fallen penis of their deity from puranas being cut by another deity of the vedas. What kind of person would write such stories and then go ahead and worship the fallen penis of its god? No respect for its own deity? Because its not their deity. Brahman exist purely for the donations to temples. If people stop giving donations Brahman will occupy something else for donations.

The list goes on and on because brahman Dharma (Hinduism) had no sculpture art, it is banned in it. India is full of buddhist art with votive stupas having multiple faces of either Buddha or Bodhisattvas. Brahminism doesnt have sculpture infact it is banned in many texts, nor do they have any description of their gods. Shiva doesnt even exist in Vedas. The character Rudra being claimed as Shiva in Vedas is the god of Thunder storms in vedas. Most of all if it is such an important god why cut write a story of its penis cut by another lowly god of the vedas? The sculpture speaks for itself.

This is a list of disrespectful, disconnected mix of facts and fictions which has flimsy grounding in reality and doesn’t address the main question I was asking, but I will engage in good faith.

No normal Hindu knows or believes in this story. This is the first I have heard of it. Remember, only Vedas/Upanishads/Gita count as core scripture. Also, any religion will have a lot of conflicting stories that neither the lay populace nor scholars consider seriously.

> Why Buddhas face on this claimed shivalinga

How? I didn't know you had a photo of Buddha to say that is Buddha's face. Also, why does Buddha have three faces? Wasn't he human? (Tip: most ancient statues look alike facially)

> Claimed as shivalinga, can you explain why the buddhas hand mudra

Those mudras predate Buddha's birth by centuries.

> Is this shivas face on his own phallus? https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/38242

No, Hindu considers the lingam to be a real phallus. I guess the mind sees what it wants to see. I don't understand how you went to eating a phallus from the image. Not every cylinder is a phallus.

Hinduism is fluid due to accommodating scientific inquiry, I will let Sagan and Schopenhauer do the talking here. Because of this scientific/open nature, it has to be fluid. You will see names and stories change depending on current culture, language, events as stories and names are merely symbolic (Rudra -> Shiva is not the damning attack you think it is).

> “The Hindu religion is the only one of the world’s great faiths dedicated to the idea that the Cosmos itself undergoes an immense, indeed an infinite, number of deaths and rebirths. It is the only religion in which the time scales correspond to those of modern scientific cosmology. Its cycles run from our ordinary day and night to a day and night of Brahma, 8.64 billion years long. Longer than the age of the Earth or the Sun and about half the time since the Big Bang.”

― Carl Sagan, Cosmos

> "Thus originated in the primitive ancestors of the Brahmans, the Rishis, the almost superhuman conceptions which were afterwards set down in the Upanishads of the Vedas."

> Vikramshila

I saw this spelling somewhere before - why do some people use it instead of the more official Vikramashila (Vikramaśilā)?

Because North Indians drop the trailing schwa (including in parts of compound woods). Annoyingly enough, a lot of them will insist you’re pronouncing it “wrong” if you don’t drop the schwa in your own pronunciation.

This explains why I had an Indian colleague whose name ended in an "a" that he didn't pronounce. I always wondered why romanize it with a silent letter.

Hindi pronunciation of Sanskrit words makes it so (what's called schwa deletion).

In Hindi and some other Indian languages, it is common to drop the last short “a” of a Sanskrit word, hence Ram for Rama, Vikram for Vikrama, etc.

Also, Taxila/Takshila here in Sanskrit is तक्षशिला (takṣaśilā).

..and 2024 will beat that handily ={

Why is this downvoted when the oceans warmed up nearly an entire degree after we stopped dumping sulfur into them? It is very likely that 2024 will be the hottest summer in two thousand years.

If it isn't what should we change? If it is what should we change?

If that's the case, then OpenAI might very well be the new Netscape or Blackberry (RIM).

i think you should position yourself as streamlit done right.
