I think it was more that Oracle was willing to take the political risk and had a lot of incentive to land a large, high visibility client that could help them build economies of scale and would come with a tier 1 JV partner.
There is a lot of upside for Oracle based on their position relative to others and Ellison does not have to manage his political capital the same way non-founder CEOs do (he made this move long before Trump’s second term).
Spot on, this just sounds like complaining for the sake of complaining. Use vim if that's your preference. I used vim for over a decade, and switching to nvim was a breath of fresh air.
His company also created Rust which ranks #8 on steamdb/mutliplayer games. They are currently in the process of making s&box on the source 2 engine. I'm just putting this out there, nobody works harder in gaming than Facepunch. Thank you Garry!
I’ve been following s&box for about 10 years now and I really have no idea where it’s going. Initially it was “Garry’s Mod 2”, then it was “Garry’s Mod 2 with way better modding”, now it’s just a game engine. I think garry got wrapped up in building stuff he finds cool and forgot what made his games popular.
They could post their content to instagram today and "make" money themselves. I do a little bit of advertising for some projects I work on, we cut instagram because it has the lowest of all traffic. I have videos getting 180K-10K views hundreds of likes and comments on some platforms, 3 on instagram. It's not even worth the effort...
All of our videos are under a minute. We have hundreds of them. We have over a million views on TikTok and YT, and almost nothing on Instagram. The interesting part is we did a project awhile back on Instagram and we got tons of followers but little engagement. This could all be antidotal and something we're not doing right, but we didn't try cracking some code on the other platforms, we upload and it mostly does its thing.
