I'm less burnt out because I don't have a three fucking hour commute. Stop trying to get me back into an office that I absolutely do not ever need to step foot into again.

+ 200 to weight; Doctors will now ignore any chronic issues and the only medical advice you're ever going to get is to lose weight.*

*The "In too much pain to eat" perk nullifies this status effect

"outrage among users, media, competition, etc."

You really believe this? Still?

Amazon is so big that the loss of outraged users is a rounding error to them. Ford used to let cars off the line missing bolts. They're still here because their pockets are deep enough to wait until people forget.

That's why the title doesn't fit. Unfair advantage is raw capitalism, not a distortion of it. What you're talking about is government interference in the markets, which is a form of socialism, which is a big no no in our society.

Why do so many people confuse supply-side economics propaganda with reality?

Government interference in the market isn't socialism, it's regulation. It's not socialism when the government ensures that companies have to compete fairly amongst eachother, minimise environmental hazards, safety test pharmaceuticals or respect labour laws. Even anti-trust laws or price controls aren't socialist. They're collectivistic, because they look after the greater good, but so are charities, some churches and , ideally, the justice system. None of those are "socialist".

Socialism (and only the statist variety, at that) is when government owns (part of) the means of production, and not even always in those cases, either. The US postal service isn't "socialist", it's a state-run public service. NASA isn't "socialist", it's a government agency funded with public funds.

Because Americans have been propogandized their entire lives

Government intervention in our markets is the rule, not the exception. Whether we call it ‘socialism’ or ‘stabilization’ is simply a matter of who is making the sales pitch.

Ignore this person. Everybody tempted to check out SA should go to CSPAM first and share your love for Joe Biden or Trump.

After posting the "Hi everybody, I'm new here" thread in FYAD, though, right?

Be mindful of how Outlook displays messages. Subject should be the topic, and the first line should be the ask. That way busy people see everything they need in the preview, without ever opening the email.

If you have a well documented system, OWNED by a software architect, then breaking it down is better.

If you don't have that, at least big fat blocks of code are self documenting...

Low code is very useful in creating basic crud apps and workflows. Hacker news is full of experts who know everything, but our teams are not all posting here. If you adopt a good low code framework that you understand inside and out, then you can achieve a lot of output with an inexperienced team.

I use a LOT of co-ops to develop full applications using Oracle's low code solution, because we don't need anything more complex than that. Complex shit should be done by our ERP, I'm just turning a manager's spreadsheet and half baked business process into a well built system. Plus, I use the low code solution as a training ground for our more complex technologies, its great for weeding out the duds.

You should still have a programmer do the work though. I have seen far to many smart business analysts fail because they get hung up on the programming basics.
