You might appreciate Dimitri Martin parodying Sagan, if you haven't seen it already. https://youtu.be/fYo-OdQ-5ic

actually, i just tried watching, but it was just not for me. i find that with a lot of funny or die stuff though. i find some of it damn funny, and other stuff just roll my eyes and stop watching. it's a matter of taste, and this particular example just seemed over produced and lazy at the same time. specifically the actor's performance

Spravato is a stupid attempt to make money off of depressed people. They isolated one isomer of ketamine so they could patent it. Tested against placebo but not against generic ketamine... It's almost ten times the price of ketamine too.

Yet? There's land underneath the ice at the south pole.

20 posts in the past 48 hours seems like a bit much.

maybe but I sometimes go through times when I do a lot of posts because I'm going through my bookmarks for the day - probably 5 or 6 though but could be I'm not that prodigious.

I hope this isn't a weird thing to say but I always really enjoy the links you post. Your bookmarks must be an interesting place!

Thanks, it's not weird, I guess that's the point of HN.

The purpose of the ketamine vs other analgesics is you don't need to intubate or monitor respiratory system nearly as much as you do for say, propofol.

Mine too, it's getting to be super concerning but I've got my own issues so I say nothing.

I hope this changes... Unfortunately the games I enjoy the most I'm stuck playing with battleye anticheat so Linux is out of the question, but I'm running a 4770k with a newer gpu (and my setup still powers through anything that isn't 3d modeling!)

It's unfortunate that the type of "directed discussion" you are referring to works so well. It drives so much engagement to the comment it ends up derailing threads on other sites, i.e. 1000 comments but only a handful of top level ones. I doubt the number of commenters that read like they took a page out of the online misinformation manuals are actually on a payroll to do so, but damn I sure am seeing this stuff often lately.

Navy also uses inertial navigation. It needs to be calibrated with GPS every now and then but you can get away without a GPS downlink for a while before drift becomes a problem.

"She hoped to make the money back. The answer came in a Christmas request from her grandchildren: “Hatchimals,” a popular interactive toy that arrived in an egg and “hatched” when rubbed. Five minutes of research convinced her that they were Generation Alpha’s answer to Cabbage Patch Kids. The retail price was $59.99, but high demand and low supply caused substantial markups online. In a four-day bidding frenzy, she bought 156 Hatchimal listings on eBay with an average price of $151, spending $23,595.31 in total. “Either I have big balls or no brains,” she emailed at the time, “or perhaps the two go together.” "

Uhhhhh

Yeah, that seemed weirdly out of left field, but she actually made $6,000 in profit at the end of it.
