It's an amazing experience to see the mountain gorillas up close. Here is a portrait I took of one of the silverbacks: https://chrismccann.com/uganda#king

We went through the Uganda side, was quite the adventure and hike to get there but was definitely worth it. Happy to share more tips or the company we used if anyone is interested.

I am definitely interested to hear more.

Yeah no problem.

We stayed here: Silverback Lodge > https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g319722-d2045553-Re... - and set up our trekking through the hotel. They only allow small groups at a time and limited number of treks (for the gorillas to not be overwhelmed) so its best to just book through the hotel.

A few other things to keep in mind:

- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is quite far from the main airport. So I'd suggest staying near the airport for the night and leaving the next morning. Although even if you do that you might not get in till pretty late at night, and its really remote so hard to get directions. Try to have whatever hotel you stay at arrange transportation, I wouldn't suggest driving yourself.

- As the name implies - Bwindi "Impenetrable" National Park - the hike can be pretty strenuous. The guide will scout out where the gorillas are before you leave but it depends where they are - can easily be a 3hr+ hike through steep inclines so prepare for that.

- One option you can do is to use a porter, we did just because of how much camera equipment I had. Although even if I didn't have much stuff it was still nice to have stuff.

If anyone else has any specific questions happy to answer them here as well.

Thanks!

Yes they are

I've taken a few pictures of these salt ponds before. They change colors quite frequently and form really cool and unique patters. Best view of them is up in the air in a helicopter or plane.

https://chrismccann.com/outside-facebook-hq - These are the salt ponds being reclaimed outside of the Facebook office.

https://chrismccann.com/palette - Here are the ones in Fremont, still being used for salt production.

I really enjoyed your portfolio.

Thanks! Appreciate the kind words :)

Thanks for sharing my notes! Happy to answer any questions anyone has about the class.

This has some interesting implications for the YC Continuity fund. Curious to hear others thoughts on it.

I've been using Medium for writing, recently with the notes from the Stanford 183C class taught by Reid Hoffman > https://medium.com/notes-essays-cs183c-technology-enabled-bl...

From the writer's perspective: 1) interface is clean and easy to write on - easy to format things, embedd video, embedd pictures, etc 2) easy to share drafts and get edits from others 3) 5%-10% of traffic comes internally from medium.com, so helps with distribution 4) SEO's well and works out of the box without me having to set anything up.

PS - I work at Greylock Partners which invested in Medium but I didn't have any say with the investment decision nor do I have to use Medium. I just like writing on there.

Whoa, there's a new CS183? Awesome! I completely missed this until now.

Just read the notes from the first two classes. I think you are doing a great job of carrying on the Blake Masters tradition of accurate, well-organized, easy-to-read notes. Please keep it up, and thank you!

Thanks for posting my notes! Happy to answer any questions if anyone has any.

Also the recorded video of the class will be posted soon. Will share link once I get it.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I was avoiding some work for the past week but that video really turned around my perspective and perhaps my future now.

Cheers

Thanks for writing them! Can't wait to see the video.

I love this concept. Your app seriously needs a few things though.

1) You have to be able to message people on a dating site, none of this coming soon button. 2) You have to be able to have some rudimentary search/filter. People want to find people of the gender they are interested in, location, etc.

You've probably thought of both of these already but a dating site really has to have both of those.
