8.5’ is 102”. There aren’t any current, mainstream cars sold in the US that are shorter than 150”. A Messerschmitt KR200 was 111”, a Toyota iQ 118”. Original Minis were 120”+. The width wasn’t listed in the article that I could see.

This is about the same length as a Honda Gold Wing.




First gen Smart Fortwo (1998) was exactly 100" and the last, third gen, was 106.1". This version was sold into 2024 though I don't know if that holds for US too.

Regardless, that's still samr order of magnitude as other cars.

The people who did the research are based in France, so in this case they are correct.

European cars are smaller in average then here in the US, probably based upon the price of gas.

I hope eventually the find more complete fossils :)
