This mapping of the IPv4 address space into IPv6 already even exists, in the ::ffff::<ip v4 address> range.

e.g. ::ffff::192.168.1.1

is an IPv6 representation of 192.168.1.1

Or in more standard v6 notation

0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:c0a8:0101
