I frankly think a lot of autistic people can be "above it all." It's not as if they're somehow better or smarter, but rather that intuition doesn't operate successfully for many of them. There is nothing to "override" as you put it.
I appreciate that this might be a controversial statement, and to be clear it's just based on my own personal anecdotes. That said, I'd be interested to hear if anyone disagrees, or else has had similar observations.
