The GDPR is a straightforward legal framework that gives individuals the ability to opt out of corporate surveillance, including post-hoc auditing and deletion of surveillance records. The US desperately needs an equivalent if we're to have any digital trust that lets us exist between the extremes of "complete abstinence" and "totalitarian free for all".
