I lived for ~5 months out on east long island NY (Riverhead area) and the tick situation out there is horrible. The majority of people who live out there year round have suffered from some tick-born illness.
Several of my co-workers got ticks and had to go on course of broadband antibiotics. Daily tick checks for myself and my kids was standard practice.
