The title is a bit misleading, if you interpret agile as is was described in the Agile Manifesto[0], most successful large software projects followed many of its points. And they will continue to do that.
Some organizations believe that SCRUM is agile, perhaps they are not flexible enough to understand that it really is not.
When we were in one of a few early meetings justifying the coming leap off our burning platform (they said that) and on to Agile, I said "This too shall pass," out loud. It got a few nervous giggles from people less subversive (another word for stupid) than me.
